Home golf generates more data than a Tour pro can access. None of it talks to each other.

Your launch monitor, smartwatch, and sim software generate data in separate silos. Here's why the golf data ecosystem is broken. Who's trying to fix it.

Your Simulator Is a Data Island

You own a launch monitor that measures 30+ data points per swing. You wear a smartwatch that tracks your heart rate, steps, and swing speed. You run GSPro, which generates shot histories, course stats, and practice logs. Three devices, three data sets, three separate ecosystems that never talk to each other.

That’s weird when you think about it. A PGA Tour player with a Trackman on the range gets maybe 15 parameters. Your home setup generates more data than that, and it’s all sitting in silos. The Garmin app on your phone has your swing data, the Arccos portal on your laptop has your shot history, and the GSPro stats page has your course performance. Three separate logins to understand your own game.

The hardware is incredible. The software is getting better every year. The data pipeline between them is still in the Stone Age.

The Pieces of the Puzzle

Each piece of your setup knows something different about your swing.

Your launch monitor knows ball speed, launch angle, spin rate, spin axis, club path, face angle, attack angle, club speed, smash factor, and low point. That’s the full picture of what happened at impact. It’s the most accurate data you’ll ever get about your swing. Compare that to what the Arccos Meta AI glasses put in your ear on the course.

Your smartwatch knows your swing tempo, your heart rate during the downswing, how many steps you took between shots, and your sleep quality last night. The Cornell research group published a paper in June 2026 showing that a single Apple Watch can reconstruct full-body joint angles during a golf swing to within 8 degrees of accuracy. Your watch knows more about your body mechanics than your launch monitor does.

Your sim software knows which courses you play, how you score on specific holes, your club distances, your fairways hit, your GIR, and your putting stats. GSPro alone has a detailed stats engine that tracks everything you’d get from a round at your local course.

That’s three separate systems recording the same swing from three different angles. None of them share data.

The Bridge Builders

The big companies are building moats. Garmin wants you in Garmin Connect. Arccos wants you in the Arccos ecosystem. Neither company makes it easy to export your data to the other platform, because that risks losing you as a customer.

The community is filling the gap.

KW Golf ShotBridge is a Windows app that reads shot data from your launch monitor’s companion app using OCR screen capture and sends it to GSPro. It works with 13+ launch monitor apps. The developer built it because the official integrations don’t cover everything. It’s a functional workaround, but it’s still a third-party patch — not a native solution.

The GSPro Open API is the closest thing to a universal standard. GSPro publishes an API that third-party developers can use to connect almost anything. The Garmin R10 connects to GSPro through a community-built GitHub project — not an official Garmin integration. Flightscope Mevo Gen2 has direct Apple Watch support for viewing your data hands-free, but that data doesn’t flow into GSPro. It’s a separate pipeline. Phigolf added smartwatch support in May 2026, letting you use your Apple Watch or Samsung Galaxy Watch as a swing sensor instead of buying their dedicated hardware. That’s a smart move — they’re using the device you already own instead of selling you another one. But Phigolf is an entertainment-focused product, not a serious sim platform. The data fidelity is not the same.

Dewy Golf launched in summer 2026 with an app that uses your phone and watch to track every shot automatically, with no sensors, tags, or buttons to press. The phone in your pocket and the watch on your wrist already know your swing. They’re turning that into a scorecard. But again — it’s a standalone app. It doesn’t connect to your sim.

The Elephant in the Room

The Arccos × Meta AI glasses integration that launched July 1 is the most visible example of what’s possible. You wear the glasses, you say “Hey Meta, what club should I use?”, and the AI tells you based on your actual shot history.

The VITBIO OmniGmot AI Golfer is another example of the technology outrunning the infrastructure. It’s a full-body motion capture system — AI smart insoles plus wearable sensors — that gives you lab-grade biomechanics data on the course. You could overlay your swing data on your actual motion capture in a sim environment and learn more from one session than a month of range work. But VITBIO doesn’t integrate with GSPro or E6 or any sim software. It’s a standalone system.

The Flightscope Mevo Gen2 has Apple Watch support for viewing your data on your wrist during practice. That’s the closest thing to a wearable-sim integration from a major manufacturer. But it’s one-directional: the LM sends data to the watch. The watch doesn’t send data back to the LM. You can’t record your tempo on the watch and compare it to your club data on the LM. The pipeline only flows one way.

What Would a Real Integration Look Like?

Imagine this: you hit ten 7-irons in your sim. Your launch monitor records club path, face angle, and smash factor for each shot. Your Apple Watch records your swing tempo, hip rotation, and wrist hinge angle. The sim software ties them together and shows you: “You’re getting the best results when your tempo is 3:1 and your hip rotation is 45 degrees. Your last five swings had inconsistent hip rotation. Here’s a drill.”

That’s the data that exists right now. That’s the analysis that nobody’s software is doing. The technology supports it. The pipeline is what’s missing.

GSPro has an open API and a massive community of developers. Garmin has a well-documented Connect API. Apple has HealthKit and Core Motion. The building blocks are all there. We’re waiting for a company willing to build the bridge.

Why This Matters for You

The decisions you make now about your ecosystem will determine how portable your data is later. If you’re already in the Garmin ecosystem (R10 or R50 plus a Garmin watch), you have the best shot at a unified experience — but it’s still limited to what Garmin decides to integrate. If you’re running GSPro with an Arccos subscription, you’re waiting for a third-party developer to build the connector.

The smart play is to pick one ecosystem and commit to it. Mixing and matching means you get the most data but the least integration. The ecosystem you choose now determines which wearables will work with your data later.

If you want the best integration today, Garmin is the closest thing to a unified platform. The R10 or R50 plus a Garmin Approach watch gives you shared data, shared apps, and a single login. It’s not perfect — the sim data and the watch data still live in different parts of the Garmin app — but it’s the only ecosystem where the same company makes both the launch monitor and the wearable.

If you want the most data, you’ll end up with a mix of products and a stack of third-party connectors. That’s the current state of the market. The hardware is incredible. The glue is missing.

What’s Coming

The Cornell WIT-KinNet research (June 2026) proves that a single wrist-worn IMU can reconstruct full-body golf swing kinematics. That means your Apple Watch or Garmin watch could theoretically replace a $10,000 motion capture system for swing analysis. The algorithm exists. The hardware is already on your wrist. What’s missing is a company that puts it in a product and connects it to the sim ecosystem.

The Arccos × Meta partnership is early evidence that the big players see the value in data integration. The next logical step is Arccos data flowing into sim software, so your on-course performance informs your practice sessions. That hasn’t happened yet. But the partnership proves the concept works.

The GSPro open API is the infrastructure that could make all of this work. If GSPro becomes the standard that wearables connect to, the data pipeline problem solves itself. The watch connects to GSPro. The LM connects to GSPro. The sim software becomes the central nervous system of your home golf setup.

We’re waiting for someone to build the nerve.

The data is there, the watches are there, the launch monitors are there, and the sim software is there. If you’re building a home sim today, keep your options open. Don’t lock yourself into a closed ecosystem. The bridges are coming. You want to be on the side that connects to everything.
