Can You Play Sea Island Seaside on GSPro? Here's How

Sea Island Seaside Course in GSPro — the Southern coastal classic by Colt, Alison, Fazio, and Jones reviewed for your home simulator

The short answer

Play Sea Island Seaside on GSPro in your golf simulator. The Southern coastal classic reviewed: course design, GSPro setup, and why it's a must-play.

The Seaside Course at Sea Island is the definition of Southern coastal golf. Originally designed by Harry Colt and Charles Alison in 1929, renovated by Tom Fazio and later Rees Jones, the course sits on the marshes of St Simons Island with ocean views, sea breezes, and the kind of subtlety that only comes from a century of refinement.

On GSPro, Sea Island Seaside is available as a LIDAR community build. It is a strong conversion of a course that hosts the PGA Tour’s RSM Classic every year.

Finding Sea Island Seaside on GSPro

Search for “Seaside” or “Sea Island Seaside” in the GSPro course database. The LIDAR version is available in the community section.

The LIDAR Quality

The coastal marsh setting creates excellent conditions for LIDAR capture. There are few trees interfering with the data, and the terrain is flat enough that the elevation scans are clean and consistent. The marsh grasses, the water features, and the coastal dunes are all well-captured.

The green complexes at Seaside are small and strategic, with subtle internal contours that route water toward collection areas. The LIDAR captures the big shapes accurately, but the subtle breaks that separate a good round from a great one are harder to reproduce.

How It Plays

Seaside is a positional course. The fairways are generous in the landing areas but the angles into the greens are everything. If you hit to the wrong side of the fairway, the approach becomes significantly more difficult.

The par-4 7th hole is the classic example. It plays along the marsh with a green that sits on a peninsula. The drive needs to be on the right side of the fairway to have a look at the pin. The wrong side leaves a blind approach over marsh grass.

The par-3s are excellent. The 4th hole plays over the marsh to a green that runs away from the player. The 17th hole plays along the ocean with a green that slopes severely from back to front.

The Tour Connection

The RSMA Classic is played on Seaside every November, and the course is available to guests of the Cloister resort. Playing it on GSPro gives you a preview of the shots the Tour pros face, though they play it at over 7,000 yards with firm conditions.

Verdict

Sea Island Seaside on GSPro is a solid LIDAR build of one of the best resort courses on the East Coast. The course is strategic, the setting is beautiful, and the shot values are Tour-level without being punishing.

Frequently Asked Questions

How realistic is this course on GSPro?

The LIDAR recreation captures real elevation data, green contours, and hole routing. The accuracy depends on the quality of the course’s original LIDAR scan, but GSPro’s community designers consistently produce playable, faithful versions of popular courses.

What launch monitor pairs best with GSPro for this course?

Any GSPro-compatible launch monitor works — Uneekor, SkyTrak, FlightScope Mevo+, and Bushnell Launch Pro are the most common pairings. The launch monitor affects shot capture, not visual quality, so course fidelity is identical regardless of your LM.

Is this course available on other sim platforms?

Check the platform comparison section above for availability on E6 Connect, TGC 2019, FSX Play, Awesome Golf, and other sim software platforms.
