The short answer

Five Iron Golf opened its first UK location at London's Broadgate campus with eight Trackman simulators, a full-service bar, and a premium membership.

Five Iron Golf Lands in London — 8 Trackman Sims and a Very Expensive Bet on Indoor Golf

Five Iron Golf opened its first UK location at London’s Broadgate campus on July 21, and the timing tells you everything about where indoor golf is headed.

The press release went out today — July 28 — but the doors have been open for a week. That’s not a slow news day rollout. That’s “we soft-launched during The Open Championship when London was full of golf tourists and media, and now we’re telling the world it worked.”

It’s a smart move. Royal Birkdale was 230 miles away, but the sims at 1 Finsbury Avenue were running the same courses the pros were playing in real life. You can’t buy that kind of relevance. You have to earn it by being in the right place at the right time.

What’s Actually There

The venue is 7,000 square feet with an additional 1,000-square-foot outdoor terrace, located steps from Liverpool Street Station and the Elizabeth Line. That’s a premium location — Broadgate is a 32-acre mixed-use campus that houses 30,000 daily workers from finance, law, fintech, media, and tech. It’s the kind of place where after-work drinks turn into simulator bookings and corporate events turn into membership signups.

Eight Trackman simulators. Full-service bar and kitchen. Private event space called The Clubhouse that seats 60. Founding Memberships at £199, which the company says are nearly sold out. That last detail is the one worth paying attention to. People paid £199 before the doors were fully open.

For context, Five Iron’s US memberships run $99-$199 a month depending on location and perks. London pricing landing at £199 suggests they know exactly who their customer is — a City banker or finance professional who spends more than that on a single dinner and thinks £199 for unlimited sim-time is basically free.

The UK Strategy

Eric Parker is the UK CEO. His background is worth understanding because it explains a lot about how Five Iron is approaching this market.

Parker was a precious metals trader on Wall Street and in London. He got involved with Five Iron in the US first, then brought the concept back across the Atlantic. He calls it his “career 2.0.” A former trader who knows how to read a market, betting on indoor golf in one of the most expensive real estate markets on earth. That’s either visionary or insane, and the first week of membership sales suggests it’s leaning toward the former.

The company has already hinted at more UK locations. One press release mentions they’re “strengthening the brand’s growing footprint across the United Kingdom.” That’s corporate-speak for “we’re not done.” Given that TeeGo is already at six London locations and expanding to 20 UK-wide, Five Iron has some catching up to do. But Five Iron has something TeeGo doesn’t: a proven US playbook with 20 states of operational data, institutional backing from Callaway Golf and North Castle Partners, and a brand that’s been tested at scale.

The PIF Connection

The London opening isn’t happening in a vacuum. The PIF London Championship returns to the Centurion Club from August 6-9, and Five Iron is leaning hard into it.

The venue has partnerships with Skratch Women (founded by Caroline Shukla), WeAre54, and Golf Saudi — all tied to the PIF London Championship. That’s not random. The PIF series is a Ladies European Tour event with a $2 million purse. By aligning with it, Five Iron is positioning itself as a hub for women’s golf programming in London, which is a demographic play as much as a PR play.

London’s indoor golf scene has been dominated by TeeGo’s quiet, golf-first model and the occasional boutique lounge. Five Iron brings the opposite: loud, social, hospitality-driven, and designed to convert people who never considered themselves golfers. The Clay Pigeon Shooting and Zombie Dodgeball modes on the Trackman sims aren’t gimmicks. They’re the entry point for the corporate group booking who shows up for “entertainment” and leaves having booked a lesson.

Why It Matters for the Home Golf Audience

You might be wondering why a venue opening in London matters for someone building a simulator in their garage in Ohio.

Because the indoor golf boom isn’t just about home sims. It’s about the ecosystem. Every new Five Iron, every TeeGo, every TruGolf Links that opens creates more people who hit balls indoors. Those people eventually ask “what if I had this at home?” The commercial operators are the gateway drug. The home simulator is the long-term relationship.

A London banker who plays at Five Iron Liverpool Street on his lunch break is six months away from pricing out a garage setup. The more venues that open, the faster that pipeline flows. And Five Iron just opened the biggest pipeline yet in a city where indoor golf was still finding its footing 12 months ago.

The Numbers Worth Watching

Five Iron is now in 20 states and 7 countries. That’s not a chain anymore. That’s a network. And networks have network effects. The real-money tournament platform they rolled out earlier this year connects players across locations. The membership data gives them insight into usage patterns that no single-venue operator can match.

The investors include Coral Tree Partners, North Castle Partners, Callaway Golf, and Danny Meyer’s Enlightened Hospitality Investments. These are not people who write checks for fun. They’re writing checks because the unit economics work and the growth trajectory is steep.

The question isn’t whether Five Iron will succeed in London. The first week of memberships already answered that. The question is whether they can replicate it in Birmingham, Manchester, Edinburgh, and every other UK city where a 7,000-square-foot space near a transit hub makes sense.

Given that they’ve done it in 20 states already, I wouldn’t bet against them.
