The women's TMRW Golf League (WTGL) is forming with 14 LPGA stars committed, 4 host cities, Arthur Blank and Alexis Ohanian as owners, and a Winter 2026/27.

The Short Answer

The women's TMRW Golf League (WTGL) is forming with 14 LPGA stars committed, 4 host cities, Arthur Blank and Alexis Ohanian as owners, and a Winter 2026/27.

TGL Season 2 just wrapped with 21.8 million viewers and 73% playoff growth. The sim golf league experiment worked. So they’re doubling down.

The Women’s TMRW Golf League — let’s call it WTGL because that acronym is fun to say — is officially in formation. 14 LPGA players committed. Four cities locked. First owners in place. Winter 2026/27 debut at SoFi Center, same building where TGL plays.

This is happening faster than I expected.

The Players

Fourteen of the best women’s golfers in the world have signed on. The list reads like a leaderboard from a major:

  • Celine Boutier — 2023 Evian Champion. Quietly one of the steadiest players on tour.
  • Brooke Henderson — 13 LPGA wins before age 28. Canadian. Hits it miles.
  • Charley Hull — The most fun golfer on the planet to watch. Chain-smoking, fast-swinging, zero-filters Charley Hull.
  • Danielle Kang — Two-time major champion. The kind of competitor you want in a match-play format.
  • Megan Khang — First Hmong-American on the LPGA. She’s been knocking on the door of a major for three years.
  • Lydia Ko — Hall of Famer at 29. Three major wins. Olympic medalist. She’s been playing pro golf since she was old enough to drive a golf cart.
  • Andrea Lee — Stanford grad. Rising star. Her 2024 season was a breakout.
  • Minjee Lee — Ten LPGA wins. Major champion. Pure ball-striker. Andrea’s not related, but they share a last name and a skillset.
  • Jeeno Thitikul — World No. 1 at one point. She’s 21. Absurdly talented.
  • Lexi Thompson — The veteran who’s been carrying women’s golf visibility for a decade. Her TGL appearance in Season 2 (first woman to play) was a preview of this.
  • Albane Valenzuela — Swiss Olympian. MIT-educated. She’s the kind of player who makes the league smarter just by being in it.
  • Michelle Wie West — The comeback story we didn’t deserve. After years of injuries, she’s back. And she’s playing sim golf.
  • Lottie Woad — The rising English star. Just finished an incredible college career at Florida State.
  • Rose Zhang — The next superstar. Won her first two pro starts. Yes, two. That’s not a typo.

That’s 14 players who could headline any team in any league. And they’re all buying into sim golf.

The Cities

Four host cities confirmed:

  • Atlanta — Arthur Blank’s backyard. The Falcons owner knows what a live sports experience looks like.
  • Los Angeles — Because of course. LA is the home of sofi, content, and celebrity-adjacent everything.
  • New York — The biggest media market in the world. If you want ratings, you play in New York.
  • Detroit — Motor City GC. This is the interesting one. The WTGL update — Motor City Golf Club is the official name of Detroit’s team. DBusiness Magazine, the Detroit News, and WXYZ Detroit confirmed the team branding alongside the announcement. The name pays homage to Detroit’s automotive heritage while signaling a fresh take on women’s pro golf.

Arthur Blank and Alexis Ohanian are the first ownership group at roughly $20 million per team. Ohanian is the Reddit co-founder who’s been building out a sports portfolio (Angel City FC in NWSL, among others). His involvement signals that WTGL isn’t just a TGL spinoff — it’s a standalone property with real investment.

Why This Works

I was skeptical about TGL when it launched. Sim golf on TV? With a giant screen and a weird hammer rule? It sounded like a made-for-TV experiment that would fizzle after one season.

Then 21.8 million people watched Season 2. Playoff viewership grew 73%. Social video grew 186%. The data says people actually want to watch sim golf.

WTGL has advantages TGL didn’t have at launch:

Lexi already proved it works. She played in TGL Season 2 as a guest for The Bay Golf Club and held her own. That one appearance showed the format translates to women’s golf without any asterisks.

The LPGA already has built-in rivalries. Celine vs Charley. Lydia vs Jeeno. These are real storylines that casual fans can follow. TGL had to manufacture drama in Season 1. WTGL walks in with it.

The sim tech is better now. TGL Season 1 had Full Swing KIT launch monitors that occasionally misread putts. Season 2 had better tracking, better putting physics, and a better broadcast product. By Winter 2026/27, the tech will be another year more mature.

SoFi Center is already built. TGL paid for the construction. WTGL gets to use the same venue. That’s tens of millions in sunk cost WTGL doesn’t have to cover.

What This Means for Home Sim Golf

More attention on simulator golf. More content. More players who become ambassadors for the technology.

Every time TGL or WTGL broadcasts, someone watches and thinks “I could do that in my garage.” The league is the best marketing the home sim industry has ever had. And now there’s a women’s version coming.

The 14 players on that list are going to be using launch monitors, hitting into screens, and talking about sim tech. Their fans will follow. LPGA players already influence equipment sales — sim equipment will be next.

The Timeline

  • Winter 2026/27: WTGL debuts at SoFi Center
  • TBD: Full team rosters (14 players is the start, not the final list)
  • TBD: Broadcast partner (ESPN, the TGL rights holder, seems like the obvious pick)
  • TBD: Additional ownership groups (Ohanian and Blank are first, more coming)

The sim golf revolution just went co-ed. And honestly? That’s the best news for this sport since somebody figured out how to put a camera next to a golf ball and turn it into data.

If you want to build your own sim while you wait for the broadcast schedule, start here. It costs less than a season ticket to any of the four host cities’ pro teams.
