Can You Play Bandon Dunes on Trackman? Here’s How

Bandon Dunes is the most requested sim destination in American golf. The remote Oregon coast location, the native dune terrain, the wind that changes every hole — it is the kind of place that makes you want to book a trip every time you see it on video.

On Trackman, you get the entire resort. Five courses. Every one of them officially licensed and professionally built.

This is a big deal because most sim platforms only have the original Bandon Dunes course. GSPro has community builds of Pacific Dunes and Bandon Trails, but they are user-created. Trackman has all five from the same data set that the resort itself uses.

Why Trackman’s Bandon Is Different

The wind at Bandon is the defining feature. The resort sits on the southern Oregon coast where the Pacific wind hits the dunes with no obstruction. Courses play 20 percent harder in the afternoon when the wind picks up.

Trackman’s weather engine handles this correctly. The wind at Bandon on Trackman is gusty, directional, and constant. You feel it on every shot. The ball moves in the air. The roll-out changes. The club selection shifts by a full club between the morning calm and afternoon breeze.

The fescue rough is modeled correctly. Bandon’s native grasses grab clubface and produce unpredictable results. On Trackman, the rough affects spin and launch angle based on lie data from the LIDAR scan. A ball sitting down in the fescue produces a different shot than a ball sitting up. That is the real Bandon experience.

The firm conditions matter too. Bandon plays firm and fast — the ball bounces, rolls, and runs toward the ocean. Trackman’s surface physics treat the fairways as fescue turf with proper density values. The ball releases instead of stopping dead. On a bad sim platform, Bandon plays like a resort course. On Trackman, it plays like a championship links.

How to Access Bandon on Trackman

Open Trackman Virtual Golf. Navigate to the course library. Search “Bandon Dunes” or “Pacific Dunes” or any of the five course names.

Trackman has all five:

  • Bandon Dunes — The original David McLay Kidd design. The course that put Bandon on the map. Perched above the Pacific with holes that wind through native dunes.
  • Pacific Dunes — The Tom Doak design that many regulars consider the best course at the resort. More strategic, more demanding, more rewarding.
  • Bandon Trails — The inland course that plays through the forest and dunes. A different feel from the ocean holes but equally good.
  • Old Macdonald — The tribute to classic golden-age design. Massive greens, redan holes, punchbowls. Rewards creativity.
  • Bandon Preserve — The par-3 short course. Fun, quick, and the perfect way to end a sim session.

The Best Course to Start With

Pacific Dunes is the consensus favorite among Bandon regulars and it is the best course to play first on Trackman. The Tom Doak routing uses every inch of the property — holes along the ocean, holes through the dunes, holes that climb and descend through the native landscape.

The par-3 10th hole at Pacific Dunes is one of the best sim golf experiences on any platform. The tee shot plays directly toward the ocean with a green that sits on the edge of a dune. The wind is in your face. The carry is 170 yards. On Trackman, the wind calculation makes the club selection a genuine puzzle rather than a formula.

Old Macdonald is the best second choice. The massive greens, the template holes, the firm-and-fast conditions — it is a course that rewards shot-making over power. The 6th hole (the redan) plays perfectly on Trackman because the green slopes from front-right to back-left in a way that community-built versions usually flatten.

What You Are Missing

The one thing Trackman cannot give you is the walk. Bandon is a walking-only resort. The experience of walking from the 6th green at Pacific Dunes to the 7th tee with the ocean on your left is part of the magic. On a sim, you teleport between holes. The golf is accurate. The atmosphere is not.

That said, the Trackman version is the closest you will get to Bandon without booking a room. Five courses, licensed data, professional physics. If you have access to a Trackman, play Pacific Dunes first, then Old Macdonald, then the original Bandon Dunes. Save the Preserve for a quick round with friends.
