Why Sawgrass Works on E6 Specifically
The island green is the entire reason anyone cares about Sawgrass on sim. And E6 handles it better than any other platform.
E6’s water rendering is the best in sim golf. It looks like water. It reflects light. It has depth. When you’re standing on the 17th tee with a wedge in your hand and a lake between you and a tiny green, the visual quality matters. E6 makes you feel the danger. The water on the island green is rendered with enough realism that you’ll genuinely hesitate before swinging. That’s not hyperbole. I’ve watched people chunk a wedge into a 120-inch projection screen because their brain told them not to hit into that much water.
The rest of the course is well represented too. Pete Dye’s design is full of visual intimidation — railroad ties, waste bunkers, water on nearly every hole. E6’s rendering handles the contrast between the green fairways, the brown waste areas, and the blue water. Sawgrass is a colorful course, and E6’s color palette does it justice.
How to Access It
Open E6 Connect. Navigate to the course library. Filter by Expanded tier. Search “Sawgrass” or “TPC Sawgrass.” Add to your library. Play.
There’s only one official version. You can’t pick the wrong one.
What It Actually Looks Like
The 17th — Island Green: The entire hole is visible from the tee. The green is 28 yards deep. The water surrounds it. On E6, the perspective is perfect — you can see the full green, the pin position, and the water on every side. The wind affects the ball visibly. Hit it to the center of the green and you’re fine. Hit it anywhere else and you’re wet. E6’s ball physics handle the splash correctly. The ball disappears. You make a joke that sounds less funny the third time.
The 18th: The famous finishing hole with water all down the left side. On E6, the lake is rendered with the same quality as the 17th. You’ll aim right. You’ll hit it right. You’ll make par. You’ll feel like you won something.
The 1st: The opening tee shot is a gentle par 4 with a generous fairway. On E6, it looks easy. That’s the point. Sawgrass lulls you in before the 17th takes your lunch money.
The Holes That Shine on Sim
Hole 4 — The short par 3: 145 yards over water to a green that slopes back to front. The wind is always a factor. On E6, the water hazard dominates the visual. You’ll miss long and left to be safe. You’ll make bogey. You’ll do it again.
Hole 12 — The par 5 with water: The second shot is over water to a green that’s protected by a bunker on the right. On E6, the carry looks longer than it is. You’ll lay up. You should lay up.
Hole 17 — The island green: You already know. Hit the green. Make par. Celebrate. Do it again.
What I’d Change
The stadium mounds — the spectator mounds that line the fairways — are less pronounced on E6 than in real life. The course gets its nickname from the mounding that creates stadium-style viewing. On E6, the mounds are present but not as visually dominant. Minor issue. The course is excellent.
The Bottom Line
TPC Sawgrass is one of the most fun courses on E6 Connect, and it’s included in the Expanded tier. The island green 17th is the main event, and E6 renders it better than any other platform. You’ll hit a wedge. You’ll pray. You’ll either make the best par of your life or take a triple bogey.
Either way, you’ll play it again.
