TPC Sawgrass is the only course where one single hole is more famous than all 18 combined.
Everyone knows the island green on 17. It’s the most recognizable single shot in golf. A 137-yard par 3 with no room for error, surrounded by water, with a green that’s smaller than your living room. The Players Championship is decided on this hole every year. Golfers hit balls into the water. Golfers hit balls into the water and then hit more balls into the water. It’s the most dramatic hole in the sport.
But here’s the thing about TPC Sawgrass: the rest of the course is excellent too. And on GSPro, it’s one of the most fun rounds of sim golf you’ll play.

Finding the Right Version
The best version of TPC Sawgrass on GSPro has been rebuilt multiple times as the tools improved. Search “TPC Sawgrass” or “TPC Sawgrass Stadium” in Course Manager. Look for:

- Highest download count
- A designer name you recognize (Crazy Canuck, BigFudge, or FR|Designs are all likely candidates)
The old versions from 2022 are serviceable but dated. The greens are simpler. The water looks flat. The newer builds have better textures, better elevation data, and green complexes that actually break like the real thing.

What It Actually Looks Like
The water is the star. On the newer builds, the water looks like water — blue, reflective, and absolutely waiting for your ball. The island green on 17 is rendered with the correct dimensions. It looks small from the tee because it is small.
The rest of the course is solid TPC design — tree-lined, bunkered, with water coming into play on at least a dozen holes. The 18th hole plays back toward the clubhouse with water down the left side. On GSPro, you’ll feel the pressure of needing a fairway finder with the round on the line.
The greens are accurate. The drop-offs around the greens are real. Missing the green at Sawgrass leaves you in collection areas that test your short game. On GSPro, those collection areas play correctly — not punishing enough to break you, but difficult enough that you can’t get lazy.
Playing Sawgrass the Right Way
Conditions: Firm fairways, firm greens. Sawgrass was designed for Florida conditions — firm, fast, windy. Soft conditions neutralize the course’s defenses.
Tees: Players tees. The course is 7,200+ yards from the tips. That’s manageable for a sim golfer because Sawgrass is more about precision than power. The forward tees take too many hazards out of play.
Wind: 10-15 mph. The wind at Sawgrass is a feature, especially on 17. A 137-yard par 3 with the wind in your face plays 150. With the wind at your back, it plays 120. The GSPro version handles this correctly. Check the wind before you hit. Check it again.
Hole 17 etiquette: Before you hit, take a deep breath. Pick your club. Commit. If you hit it in the water, reload. That’s what the pros do. The only difference is you don’t have to take your shoes off.
The Holes That Shine on Sim
Hole 17 — The island: Obviously. On GSPro, it’s everything you hoped it would be. The green is small. The water is everywhere. The wind is a factor. Hit a wedge, hold your breath, and watch. This single hole is worth the price of admission — and it’s one of the best sim golf experiences across any platform.
Hole 18 — The closer: A par 4 with water down the left, trees down the right, and a green that requires a precise approach. On GSPro, the view from the fairway is excellent — the clubhouse in the background, the water waiting for a pulled drive, the sense that you’re finishing something important.
Hole 8 — The par 5: 580 yards with water in play on the second shot. Reachable in two if you’re long and aggressive. The GSPro version frames the risk-reward decision perfectly. Go for it or lay up? The answer depends on how many balls you’re willing to sacrifice.
What I’d Change
The visual quality of the water could be better on some versions. On the best builds, it’s excellent. On the older builds, it’s flat and unthreatening. Make sure you get the latest version. Also, the 17th green is so famous that the tension is slightly diminished by knowing exactly what’s coming — but that’s a problem with the real course, not the sim version.
