TruGolf

News, press releases, and coverage of one of the oldest names in golf simulation — the company that built E6 Connect, the Apogee overhead system, and the LaunchBox portable. From commercial sims to home launch monitors, TruGolf is the E6-only ecosystem that prizes simplicity over data depth and no-subscription ownership over recurring fees.

Who Is TruGolf?

TruGolf is one of the oldest companies in the golf simulator business. Founded in 1983 (yes, 1983 — before most of us had played a round of golf), the company started by creating video-game golf experiences and evolved into a full-stack hardware and software provider. Today, TruGolf (Nasdaq: TRUG) builds everything from ceiling-mounted overhead launch monitors to portable sim units to the E6 Connect software that powers the whole ecosystem.

TruGolf's core pitch is simplicity and ownership. Their products are designed to minimize friction — the Apogee uses voice commands and auto-calibration, the LaunchBox works without marked balls or club stickers, and both include owned courses with no subscription required. It's a distinctly different philosophy from the subscription-heavy models of Rapsodo, SkyTrak, and Bushnell. But that simplicity comes with tradeoffs: both the Apogee and LaunchBox are locked into the E6 software ecosystem, with no native GSPro support. If you want GSPro — and most informed buyers do — TruGolf hardware can't give it to you.

The company is currently navigating a challenging financial period. After reporting a $15.8 million net loss for fiscal year 2025, TruGolf executed a 1-for-10 reverse stock split in March 2026 to maintain Nasdaq listing compliance. Q1 2026 brought slightly better news — revenue of $5.0 million (down 4% YoY), a narrowed net loss of $1.4 million (down from $2.7 million), and $10.9 million in cash on hand. But gross margins fell from 68% to 53%, and the company carries a material weakness in internal financial controls.

Despite the financial headwinds, TruGolf is pushing hard on its TruGolf Links franchise model — a brick-and-mortar expansion that aims to open company-branded sim centers across the US. Three Long Island locations have signed leases in 2026 (Westbury, Farmingdale, Miller Place), and the first flagship franchise in Cherry Hill, New Jersey is expected to open in Q2 2026. The company also debuted TruGolf RANGE, a multi-player indoor driving range platform that supports up to seven players on a single cinematic screen, with integrated AI Coach analytics.

Key products: LaunchBox ($2,999 dual-camera portable LM, 27 owned E6 courses, club data without stickers, E Ink display, no subscription, E6-only, scores 8.2/10), Apogee ($7,995 ceiling-mounted overhead LM, voice commands, laser ball placement, auto-calibration, zero stickers, 8 data metrics, E6-only, scores 7/10), E6 Connect (sim software with best-in-class graphics, officially licensed courses, $300/yr subscription tier or $1,000 lifetime course upgrade for Apogee), TruGolf RANGE (multi-player indoor driving range platform, 7 players, AI Coach, first installation at Golf Everywhere in Flower Mound, Texas).

The 4,011 SF facility at Old Country Road and Carmen Avenue will include five premium golf simulators, an upscale restaurant, and full bar. Opening targeted for Fall 2026. Also in April: TruGolf reports FY2025 results — $15.8 million net loss for the full year, the company's worst financial performance since going public. The loss triggers a strategic pivot toward the franchise model as a new revenue stream.

March 2026

Reverse Stock Split: 1-for-10 to Maintain Nasdaq Listing

TruGolf executes a 1-for-10 reverse stock split, reducing outstanding Class A shares from 5.36 million to ~535,000. The move is necessary to maintain compliance with Nasdaq's minimum bid price requirement. It's the company's second reverse split in two years, following a similar move in 2025. The stock immediately drops 36% on the news, reflecting investor skepticism about the company's trajectory. The Series A Preferred Stock conversion price resets to $2.76/share in April 2026, opening the door to further dilution.

TruGolf announces an integration of D3 Sports Tech's Digital Wallet Services into its ecosystem, enabling secure, compliant real-money competition across TruGolf's leagues, contests, and competitive platforms. The move positions TruGolf to compete with Toptracer and Five Iron Golf in the real-money sim golf space. The integration builds on a strategic collaboration announced one year earlier and leverages the momentum of the TruGolf RANGE reveal at the PGA Show.

The LaunchBox ($2,299 PGA Show price) and Apogee ($9,000 overhead) are both on display. TruGolf also announces it has commenced open-market share repurchases under the $2M buyback program, signaling confidence despite market headwinds. The first TruGolf RANGE installation will be at the Golf Everywhere project in Flower Mound, Texas.

2025

E6 by TruGolf Becomes Official Software — Sky Sports Open Championship Coverage

E6 by TruGolf powers Sky Sports' award-winning coverage of the 2025 Open Championship at Royal Portrush — a validation of the software's broadcast-grade quality. Meanwhile, the TruGolf RANGE concept is announced (November 2025) as "the most transformative innovation in modern golf practice." Financially, FY2025 ends with $15.8M net loss on declining revenue, prompting the company to restructure debt and explore the TruGolf Links franchise model as a new growth vector.

2023-2024

LaunchBox Development and E6 Ecosystem Expansion

TruGolf invests heavily in the camera-based tracking technology that would become the LaunchBox and Apogee. The company also expands E6 Connect's licensed course library, adding Pebble Beach, St Andrews, and other premium destinations. TruGolf goes public via SPAC merger in 2024, listing on Nasdaq under the ticker TRUG. The reverse merger provides capital for product development but also exposes the company to public market scrutiny that will intensify as financial performance disappoints.

1983-2022

From Video Games to Golf Simulation Pioneer

TruGolf is founded in 1983, initially creating video-game golf experiences. Over four decades, the company evolves from game developer to commercial sim manufacturer to full-stack hardware + software provider. Their Vista series commercial simulators become staples in golf centers, hotels, and teaching academies. The company develops E6 (originally strategic partner, later fully acquired) into one of the three dominant sim software platforms alongside GSPro and TGC 2019. TruGolf's camera-based tracking technology powers commercial installations worldwide, building the engineering foundation for the LaunchBox and Apogee consumer products that follow.
