GSPro — The LIDAR Version
GSPro’s Winged Foot is a community-built LIDAR recreation. The elevation data is accurate — the famous uphill approach on 18 plays uphill, and the sloping fairways on the front nine are faithful to the real course. The green complexes are the weak point. Winged Foot’s greens are among the most difficult in American golf, with severe tilt and internal contouring that punishes an approach shot that is six feet from the ideal line. The LIDAR captures the general shape but misses some of the subtle internal breaks.
The rough is set to U.S. Open height in the sim’s tournament settings, and it plays appropriately punitive. Missing a fairway by five yards leaves you with a ball sitting down and a partial wedge that checks hard. The course routing is correct, the bunkers are in the right places, and the signature par-4 10th hole plays as the beast it is in real life.

E6 Connect — The Licensed Version
E6 Connect has the only officially licensed version of Winged Foot. The course was scanned on-site, which means the green contours are more accurate than any LIDAR recreation can manage. The internal slopes on the greens — the ones that turn a 15-foot birdie putt into a 30-foot par save — are present in a way they are not on GSPro.
The rough penalty is also more severe. E6’s shot engine applies a heavier dispersion penalty from the rough, which matches the real experience of playing Winged Foot. The course plays harder on E6 because the software is designed to punish imprecise approach shots more aggressively.
The trade-off is cost. E6 Connect requires a subscription or a one-time purchase, and the Winged Foot course is included in the premium tier. You pay more for the accuracy, but the accuracy is real.

The physics engine is older and more forgiving overall. A shot that would be a disaster on the real course — a pulled approach into the left rough at 18 — is a manageable recovery on TGC 2019. If you are learning the course layout, this is fine. If you want to experience the course as it was designed to play, this is not the version.
