Bandon Dunes on Awesome Golf is the original course only. The rest of the resort — Pacific Dunes, Bandon Trails, Old Macdonald, the Preserve — is not in the library. If you want the full resort, you need Trackman or GSPro.
But the original course is excellent. The 4th hole along the cliff edge is one of the best sim golf experiences available on any mobile-first platform. The ocean views are there. The fescue rough is punishing. The wind off the Pacific coast translates well.
How It Plays on Awesome Golf
The fescue rough is the defining feature of Bandon Dunes. On Awesome Golf, the rough affects ball flight the way it should — the ball sits down, the club twists slightly, and the resulting shot is unpredictable. The rough is not a uniform penalty. It varies based on your lie.
The wind matters at Bandon more than almost any other course in the Awesome Golf library. The Oregon coast is exposed. The wind is constant. On Awesome Golf, the 4th hole plays differently based on wind direction. The 7th hole requires a different club depending on the breeze.
The firm conditions are baked into the Awesome Golf version. Bandon Dunes plays firm and fast. The ball bounces, rolls, and runs toward the ocean. Awesome Golf’s surface physics handle this well — the fescue turf is modeled as fast-running, which is how real Bandon plays.
How to Access It
Open Awesome Golf on your iPad. Select Virtual Golf. Browse the course list for “Bandon Dunes.” Play the 4th hole first. It is the highlight of the round.
What You Miss
The rest of the resort. Pacific Dunes is the consensus favorite among Bandon regulars. Bandon Trails offers a different forest-and-dunes experience. Old Macdonald rewards creativity. The Preserve is a fun par-3 round. Awesome Golf has none of these.
