E6’s Bandon Dunes is one of the best-looking courses in the Expanded library. The color palette is natural — brown fescue, green gorse, blue ocean, golden sand.
The 1st hole: A 380-yard par 4 that opens gently. The fairway is wide. The dunes frame the hole. On E6, the opening tee shot sets the tone. The course looks open and playable. It’s lying.
The 4th hole: The famous par 4 along the cliff. 440 yards from the tips. The Pacific is on your left the entire hole. The fairway runs along the edge of a 70-foot cliff. On E6, the perspective is dramatic. You can see the ocean, the cliff, the fairway, and the green. The wind pushes toward the water. You’ll aim right. You’ll still end up on the left side.
The 16th hole: The short par 4 with the punchbowl green. 340 yards, drivable, but the green is a punchbowl — surrounded by dunes, with a hollow in the middle. On E6, the punchbowl is rendered correctly. You can see the collection area. You’ll either hit the green and make eagle, or miss and spend the next hole talking about it.
