The GSPro version of East Lake is the clear winner. East Lake is a second-shot golf course, and GSPro’s green surface modeling makes the approach shots meaningful. The LIDAR captures the false front, the back-to-front slope, and the collection area short-right that has swallowed so many FedEx Cup dreams. On GSPro, you can actually practice the shot that decides the season. The community creators have nailed the details. E6 Connect
E6 Connect’s version of East Lake is professionally produced and officially licensed. The routing is correct, the major features are in place, and the water hazards are well-rendered. E6’s water physics are among the best in the sim world, and the pond on 18 looks convincing. The weakness is in the green complexes. E6’s physics model simplifies the internal contours of Ross’s greens. The 9th hole, a short par-4 that rewards a well-placed approach, plays flatter than it should. The 6th hole’s green loses the subtle tiering that makes the real East Lake so challenging. You will still enjoy the round, but you will not be practicing the same shots that the Tour Championship field faces. The advantage of E6 is the professional presentation. The hole flyovers, the course photography, and the integration with the E6 interface are polished. If you are hosting a sim night and want the course to look good on screen, the E6 version delivers.
TGC 2019
The TGC 2019 version of East Lake is a community creation with variable quality. The best versions capture the basic routing and the major features — the 18th pond, the clubhouse, the general layout. But the details that make Ross’s design special are missing. The crowned fairways are flattened. The green complexes lack the internal movement that defines Ross’s architecture. The trees are too dense and the fairway corridors are too narrow. It is a playable version of East Lake, but it does not feel like the real thing. The course plays too easy because the penalty for missing a fairway is not severe enough, and the greens do not offer the same challenge.
The Verdict
GSPro wins by a wide margin. East Lake is a Ross design that demands accurate green surface physics, and only GSPro delivers that. E6 Connect is a respectable second option with professional presentation. TGC 2019 is a distant third — adequate for a casual round but not a serious simulation of the Tour Championship venue. If you want to practice the 18th hole at East Lake, GSPro is the only choice that matters.
