Harbour Town on GSPro vs E6 vs TGC 2019: Which Version Is Best?

Harbour Town Golf Links is one of the most distinctive courses in American golf. Pete Dye’s Hilton Head masterpiece demands precision, creativity, and patience in equal measure. The good news: all three major simulator platforms have it. The bad news: the quality gap between them is wider than the gap between Harbour Town’s 18th fairway and the Calibogue Sound.

GSPro (Winner)

The GSPro version of Harbour Town is the definitive sim experience. The LIDAR scan captures the course’s signature character — the tight tree-lined corridors, the tiny undulating greens, and the water hazards that define every risk-reward decision. The 18th hole with its iconic lighthouse behind the green is rendered to the point where you can almost hear the RBC Heritage crowd. What makes GSPro the winner is the green surface accuracy. Harbour Town’s greens are among the smallest on the PGA Tour, and they feature the subtle internal movement that makes Pete Dye designs so difficult. GSPro’s putting model handles these micro-breaks better than any other platform. The 12th hole, a 195-yard par-3 over water to a narrow green, plays exactly as terrifying as it should. The community creators have done exceptional work on the course details. The fairway bunkering, the railroad ties around the greens, the coastal vegetation — everything is where it should be. If you own GSPro, this is the version you play.

E6 Connect

E6 Connect’s version of Harbour Town is solid but not spectacular. The course is officially licensed, so the routing and hole-by-hole layout are correct. The water rendering is E6’s strength — the Calibogue Sound and the internal marsh hazards look convincing, and the reflections add atmosphere. The trade-off is in the green complexes. E6’s physics model does not capture the subtle internal contours of Harbour Town’s greens as well as GSPro. The 14th hole, a short par-4 that Dye designed to tempt players into driving the green, plays flatter than it should. The course is still playable and enjoyable, but the strategic depth that makes the real Harbour Town special is slightly muted. The advantage of the E6 version is accessibility. If you own an E6 license, you can play Harbour Town without any additional downloads or community installations. It ships as part of the premium course library.

TGC 2019

The TGC 2019 version of Harbour Town is a community creation, and the quality depends entirely on which designer you choose. The best versions capture the broad strokes — the lighthouse, the 18th hole, the general layout — but the details degrade quickly. The trees are too dense, the greens are too flat, and the water hazards are simplified. TGC 2019 lacks the LIDAR accuracy that makes the GSPro version so compelling. The fairway widths are generous, the green complexes lack the internal movement, and the overall feel is more “golf course inspired by Harbour Town” than “Harbour Town.” It is fine for a casual round with friends. It is not the version you choose if you want to simulate the actual challenge of the RBC Heritage layout.

The Verdict

GSPro wins decisively. The LIDAR accuracy, the green surface modeling, and the community attention to detail make it the only version that truly captures Pete Dye’s masterpiece. E6 Connect is a respectable second option for players who are already in the E6 ecosystem. TGC 2019 is a distant third — playable but not accurate. If you have access to GSPro, play Harbour Town there. Period.
